Dr. Jill Biden to Visit RRCC, ACC Today
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will visit Red Rocks Community College and Arapahoe Community College today, April 30.
Dr. Biden will visit RRCC at 10:30 a.m. to tour the school’s Industrial Science and Operations Building and learn about the school’s Renewable Energy Technology programs.
At 2:00 p.m., Dr. Biden will visit ACC to tour the school’s Automotive Service Technology program.
She will be in the Denver area with her husband, who will deliver remarks at UQM Technologies, a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance, energy-efficient electric drive systems, at noon. Vice President Biden is expected to discuss how the Recovery Act is transforming the American economy through investments in innovation and technology. UQM Technologies has received $45 million in Recovery Act funding, allowing the company to build a new manufacturing facility to expand operations.
During her two stops, Dr. Biden will meet with community college students, faculty, administrators, and local industry partners. These visits are part of Dr. Biden’s ongoing efforts to highlight models for student success at community colleges across the country. She will be joined by Jane Oates, assistant secretary of Employment and Training Administration at the Department of Labor.
This fall, Dr. Biden will host a summit on community colleges at the White House. Details will available will be available at a later date.
